Logan Blow to transfer to UMHB, begin second stint as member of Men's Basketball Team

BELTON, Texas- Logan Blow began his collegiate basketball career at UMHB. And, it appears it is where he will end it.

The Austin native is set to begin his second stint as a Crusader this upcoming season, as he confirmed to True To The Cru on Friday that he will transfer to UMHB from ETBU. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

“I really enjoyed my time at UMHB the first time,” Blow told True To The Cru. “I loved the atmosphere, facilities, and culture! I’m really excited to be apart of Cru Country again, be able play for Coach Carroll and finish off my career where I started.”

A 6’5 standout guard, Blow appeared on UMHB’s roster during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. He redshirted as a true freshman, but saw action in 12 games the following year for the Cru, scoring 20 points on the season (1.7 PPG). The forward played just over five minutes per game, and pulled down 1.2 rebounds per contest, along with three steals and a block.

Mountain View College in Dallas became his next destination, as he transferred to the JUCO program for the 2018-19 season. While there, Blow played in 28 games, with 9.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He began 2019-20 on Texas Wesleyan’s roster, but did not finish the season with the Rams.

He transferred to ETBU for the 2020-21 season, and made an immediate impact. Blow played in 21 games with four starts, averaging 9.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He also shot 85 percent from the free-throw line.

Blow showed exceptional comfort in the Mayborn Campus Center on Feb. 13, scoring a career-high 30 points as the Tigers fell to UMHB 86-81. He also added five rebounds.

On the offensive end, the guard uses his size to drive past defenders to the lane, and is a threat to score whenever the ball is in his hands. As a defender, his athleticism is truly revealed. In one memorable play this past year against Sul Ross State, Blow raced up the floor in transition as SRSU went for a layup, swatting away the shot. He tallied 10 blocks and 24 steals for the Tigers during the 2020-21 campaign.

Considering his skill set and experience, Blow is expected to be a leading candidate for one of the Cru’s starting guard positions. However, a starting job will not come easy. Josiah Johnson, the No. 2 leading scorer in Div. III last season (min. 10 games played, 29.3 PPG) is nearly a lock to start, and Carson Hammond displayed excellent range from beyond the arc last year. In addition, transfers Payton Brooks (Abilene Christian), Jacob Paske (Blinn JC), Tyler Jarovik (UT Permian Basin) and Preston Tabor (North Lake College) will also be in the mix for a key role within the team.

Blow played his high school basketball at St. Dominic Savio Catholic School in Austin, where he was a McDonald’s All-American nominee, National Free Throw Champion, three-time Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) All-State, and named to the National Honor Society.
