SAN ANTONIO- In the pressure of the moment, William Sammons prevailed.
Faced with a sudden-death playoff hole in the final round of the Alamo City Classic against Trinity’s Jacob Mason, Sammons made the crucial putt necessary on the first playoff hole to earn the individual title. It marked his first individual victory of the fall.
BELTON- You have to go back to 2018 to find the last time UMHB played consecutive road games during the regular season. In those mid-October contests against Howard Payne and Belhaven, the Cru outscored its opponents 104-0. Now, three seasons and two national titles later, UMHB will be looking for consecutive road victories once again.
There were plenty of great matchups in ASC play in Week 6, and we take a quick look back at how the action unfolded within the entire conference in this week’s ASC Week in Review presented by Duke Realty.
The fourth-ranked UMHB football team came away with a 24-7 victory at ETBU on Saturday afternoon, led by a number of stellar performances. The UMHB men’s and women’s soccer teams rolled through their first home ASC matches this past week. On Saturday evening, True To The Cru’s Russell Marwitz was on the sidelines for both matches against Howard Payne, and captured all the action. In UMHB’s third road game of the season, the fourth-ranked Crusaders travel to ETBU, aiming at their fifth victory of the season. BELTON-The votes have been counted, and it is now time to announce True To The Cru’s Players of the Week presented by The Best of Belton.
BELTON- Clif Carroll coached his first game as UMHB’s head men’s basketball coach inside Strahan Arena the day before Thanksgiving on Nov. 26, 2020. Two years later, he and his team will return to the 10,000-seat arena in San Marcos, facing Texas State on Dec. 13.
BELTON- The regular season is halfway over for the fourth-ranked UMHB football team. Of course, if the Crusaders have it their way, this past Saturday’s 38-7 victory over Austin College will mark the first third of a 15-game journey in 2022, and for the most part, UMHB has looked every bit of a national title contender, entering its Week 6 matchup at ETBU with a 3-0 ASC record.
