BELTON- It is less than 24 hours until the highly-anticipated top 10 matchup in Abilene kicks off. For the last 25 seasons, ever since these two opponents met for the first time on Nov. 7, 1998, this rivalry has been unfolding.
AUSTIN, Texas- The UMHB volleyball fell in a third straight conference match on Friday night, as Concordia (TX) emerged with a 3-1 home victory, and now boasts wins over two of the ASC’s most prominent programs in UMHB and UT-Dallas.
BELTON- The last time UMHB men’s soccer took down Trinity in Belton, Ben Allen played 58 minutes in the 1-0 victory. On Friday night, he was on the field once again, this time as the program’s first-year assistant coach. And for the first time in 12 years, the Crusaders came up victorious against the Tigers, known for their consistency in the NCAA Tournament and status as one of the region’s power programs.
It is the game of the year in the ASC, and possibly, in D-III football. This is a matchup that is likely to decide the conference title, and who gets the ASC’s automatic bid into the playoffs. And then there’s the bragging rights that come with a victory in a rivalry such as this one.
