SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — The opportunity presented by Friday night’s non-conference clash inside Centenary’s Gold Dome was not lost on the UMHB men’s basketball team. Quite the opposite. In fact, it was a talking point for the Crusaders as they hit the road five days after handing Concordia (TX) its first defeat in a 96-82 win.
AUSTIN — Concordia’s push came with just under seven minutes left on Sunday afternoon. The Tornados, 6-0 to start the 2025-26 campaign, trailed by 13 with 6:45 to go. But with an up-tempo style that can flip a game in an instant, and playing in front of a home crowd, there was little doubt they would eventually make a charge at UMHB’s double-digit lead.
SPOKANE, Wash. — “How are we going to respond?”
That was the phrase of the day, so to speak, for the UMHB men’s basketball team heading into Saturday evening’s road duel at 25th-ranked Whitworth, head coach Sam Patterson said afterwards.

BELTON — With roughly 10 minutes left in Tuesday night’s clash between UMHB and Centenary (La.), Cam Stinson caught a pass a few feet in front of the Crusader bench.
BELTON — It’s hard to start a game much better than the UMHB women’s basketball team did on Saturday. And Mia Lozoya was a big part of that.
BELTON — Sam Patterson earned his first career win as a head coach on the same day that the UMHB men’s basketball team tied the mark for the second-most points in a single game, as The Cru began a two-game homestand with a 117-80 victory over Belhaven.
LA VERNE, California — Katie Novak-Lenoir and her team knew the pieces would eventually come together. The talent was there. So was the experience. It just took a little more time than expected for that breakthrough to emerge.
BELTON — UMHB men’s soccer has displayed the strength of its scoring attack more than once in the 2025 campaign. But on Thursday night, The Cru took it to another level, finding the back of the net six times in a 6-0 shutout over Howard Payne.
