BELTON — Coming off a statement 15-point win over rival Hardin-Simmons, and having already locked up the No. 3 seed in the American Southwest Conference tournament, Saturday’s regular season finale against Howard Payne was ripe with opportunity for a letdown.
BELTON — There was a point on Thursday night where UMHB simply held the lead against Hardin-Simmons. Then came a point when The Cru completely took over.
BELTON — They were shorthanded, down to just seven players in the rotation, facing the No. 2 team in the country. And as The Cru fell behind by 19 in the first 11 minutes on Tuesday afternoon, it seemed that Wartburg was comfortably on its way to a ninth-straight victory.
BELTON- Jaycie Brisco has been competing her whole life. And she has never turned down a challenge.
That is to be expected when you grow up with a twin brother, go to a 2A high school, and play alongside the same group for four years. Naturally, a competitive edge will start to build.
