No. 5 UMHB football honors Fredenburg, opens ASC schedule with 68-14 win over Southwestern

BELTON- Before Saturday night’s game against Southwestern even got underway, there were loud cheers from the crowd. Pete Fredenburg, the architect of the nationally-dominant UMHB football program, was recognized for his legendary role in the program’s history, with the field named “Fredenburg Field” in his honor.

Cru Nuggets: Observations from UMHB football’s 52-7 victory over Southwestern

The ‘21 UMHB defense held true to the Cru legacy of being downright nasty. The new scheme seems to have remedied the problem in 2019 of consistently not setting the edge against the run. That has resulted in wreaking even more havoc in the opponent’s backfield. Interior linemen consistently penetrated the line of scrimmage, blew up run plays and forced Southwestern quarterback Landry Gilpin to throw early, scramble or take a sack.
