ABILENE, Texas- The UMHB volleyball team extended its winning streak to three matches on Tuesday night in Abilene, sweeping McMurry. It marks UMHB’s first road win of the year, and moves the Crusaders to 2-1 in conference play.

HOUSTON- Less than 24 hours after its first loss of the season, the UMHB volleyball team split its first two matches at the St. Thomas (TX) tournament, defeating Whitman 3-1 early in the afternoon, before dropping its evening duel to St. Thomas, 3-2.
ETBU bests No. 25 UMHB Volleyball in five sets
MARSHALL- An undefeated ETBU team on the rise managed to knock off No. 25 UMHB on Thursday night, handing the Crusaders their first loss of the season, as the Tigers captured the decisive fifth set, 15-9, and won the match, 3-2.

The UMHB volleyball team is 3-0 to begin its 2022 season, as the Cru dominated on their home floor Thursday and Friday. They downed Howard Payne in three straight sets in both the season-opener and conference-opener for both squads, before coming back four hours later for a second win, this one coming over Schreiner with a 3-1 result. On Friday night, the Cru showed no signs of fatigue, sweeping Centenary in three straight sets, hitting for a percentage of .254. The tournament concluded on Saturday afternoon, as UMHB played its fourth match in three days. Though Hendrix grabbed an early lead, winning the opening set 25-17, UMHB responded with victories in the next three sets for a 3-1 win.

Just last week, the Cru was picked to win the ASC. For several years now, UMHB has been amongst the league’s best, having won the ASC tournament title in the spring of 2021, and the regular season championship last fall, as they posted a 24-2 record.
