BELTON, Texas- On its first day of official practice, the UMHB men’s basketball team was announced as the nation’s No. 12 team in D3hoops.com’s Preseason Top 25 Poll.
UMHB tallied 280 points, just two points behind No. 11 Tufts. The Crusaders are also the only ASC program to open the season ranked, as well as the only team from Texas.
It is a solid ranking to begin the 2021-2022 season for head coach Clif Carroll’s team, who posted a perfect 13-0 record in ASC play a year ago. The Cru were ranked as high as No. 10 last season, and received votes in all eight of D3hoops.com’s Top 15 polls.
The Cru is set to open the year against Southwestern in Belton on Nov. 9. At the D3hoops.com Classic, UMHB will face Pacific Lutheran, who tallied 21 points in the preseason poll, on Dec. 29. The following evening, the Crusaders play Saint Mary’s (Minn.), who accumulated nine points in the poll.
