THIS IS ANOTHER EDITION OF CATCHING UP WITH THE COMMITS, FEATURING UMHB BASEBALL COMMIT CARSON RILEY
There might not be a better defensive catcher in the Central Texas area in the Class of 2023 than Carson Riley. And he’s a UMHB commit. The Liberty Hill, Texas product has picked up accolade after accolade upon the conclusion of his senior year, including honors such as District 25-5A Defensive Player of the Year, THSBCA 5A All-State Elite Team, and Texas Sports Writers Association 5A Third Team All-State.
He comes in ready to make an early impact, and certainly possesses a skill set to do so. He helped Liberty Hill to a 25-9 record this past season, as the Panthers reached the playoffs. Individually, he hit .344, with five extra-base hits, 28 RBIs, and behind the plate, threw out 14 potential base-stealers.
In this edition of “Catching up with the Commits”, Riley explains why UMHB was the right fit for him, his excitement about the future of the program, and the responsibility that comes with being a starting catcher.
