Avila’s field goal saves UMHB football from upset loss to ETBU

MARSHALL, Texas- The UMHB football team was pushed to its limit on Saturday, as the Cru earned a narrow 30-28 victory over East Texas Baptist on a 37-yard go-ahead field goal from kicker Anthony Avila.

Voting for True To The Cru’s Special Teams Player of the Week is now open

When it comes to special teams, UMHB clearly had the better unit statistically when the Cru defeated Southwestern 52-7 on Saturday. The Crusaders averaged 14 more yards per punt than the Pirates, made the only field goal of the game, had two more punts downed inside the 20 than their opponents, and on average, returned kickoffs eight yards further than Southwestern.
