BELTON — There are times when Barry Elkins glances at his team’s 2025 schedule and still can’t quite believe it. It is arguably the toughest batch of non-conference opponents he has ever assembled in his 13 years leading UMHB women’s soccer, a daunting slate headlined by national champions, highly-ranked contenders, and a particular former conference rival.
BELTON — Barry Elkins reached an exceptional milestone on Saturday night. As the UMHB women’s soccer team improved to 3-1 in ASC play in a 2-0 shutout of ETBU—The Cru’s third straight clean sheet in conference play—Elkins earned his 400th career victory as a head coach.
As UMHB women’s soccer heads into Thursday’s pivotal ASC opener at rival Hardin-Simmons, Riley Zayas takes a look at the way the first eight matches of the season have played out for The Cru and the strength of UMHB’s midfield.
Both the UMHB men’s and women’s soccer teams began their 2023 regular seasons outside of Texas. And they both returned back home to Belton with a pair of quality results in tow.
BELTON-The season has ended for the UMHB men’s and women’s soccer teams, but the awards keep rolling in.
There was no lack of UMHB representation on the All-Region teams released by the United Soccer Coaches on Wednesday, as a total of seven Crusaders, along with a coaching staff, were featured with the Region 10 honorees.
BELTON- 12 seconds showed on the large scoreboard at the far end of the Cru Soccer Field. Slowly a cheer erupted into a roar. Phone cameras were pulled out. Barry Elkins raised his hands into the air in triumph. History was going to be made indeed, on this November evening.
BELTON- The 2022 season just got a little bit better for the UMHB women’s soccer team.
Three days after winning its first ASC title in program history, and four days prior to the NCAA Tournament opener in San Antonio, the Crusaders were well-represented on the ASC’s postseason awards and All-Conference teams, which were released Tuesday.
BELTON-The storyline cannot get much better for the UMHB women’s soccer team.
Two weeks ago, the Crusaders managed to knock off rival Hardin-Simmons, 1-0, beating the Cowgirls, winners of 19 straight ASC titles, for the first time in program history.
ROUND ROCK- Postseason soccer will be played in Belton next week.
The UMHB women’s soccer team secured the No. 1 seed in the ASC Tournament with its 4-1 victory at Concordia (TX) on Saturday afternoon, making history for the second straight week by becoming the first team in program history to complete the regular season conference schedule with an undefeated record of 8-0-1.
BELTON- History was made in Longview last Thursday night. But then again, history was made two days later at ETBU, and again Thursday night in UMHB’s 5-1 win over Sul Ross State. And the record books could be rewritten on Saturday night when Howard Payne comes to Belton.
