MARSHALL, Texas — It didn’t take much for UMHB Softball to go from being in the thick of a one-run tournament game to eyeing a significantly more daunting four-run deficit. All it took, in fact, was one swing with two outs in the sixth inning on Thursday afternoon.
MARSHALL, Texas— On Thursday afternoon, it was a big first inning from LeTourneau that sank UMHB in an eventual 19-9 loss at the ASC Tournament. But in Friday’s elimination game, the opposite unfolded. This time, an outburst in the ninth inning from Hardin-Simmons proved to be the difference.

BELTON — There were chances to win it in the end, which, for a UMHB team whose struggles have been very noticeable in recent weeks, was all anyone could really ask for. Especially considering the opponent on the opposite bench came to Belton with an unblemished 7-0 ASC record in tow.

ABILENE — There was some doubt, externally, about UMHB’s ability to go to Abilene in the second round of the playoffs and win on Saturday afternoon. The Cru had, after all, dropped both regular season meetings against the Cowboys this season. And Hardin-Simmons entered this year’s postseason as the No. 2 overall seed, per the NCAA Power Index, with an unblemished 10-0 record.
ABILENE — For the third time this season, UMHB and Hardin-Simmons will meet on the gridiron, and it goes without saying that the stakes are high. In the second round of the playoffs, the Crusaders and Cowboys each have high expectations, ready to make a statement at Shelton Stadium.
