BELTON- With several departures at tight end following the 2021 season, the UMHB coaching staff sought to add depth to the position during this recent recruiting cycle. The Crusaders found a reliable addition in Will McClintock, a native of nearby Riesel, Texas, who comes to Belton with three years of eligibility following a freshman year in 2021 at Missouri Western State (D2).
The UMHB defense continues to garner more and more talent with each passing recruiting class and 2022 was no different. With changes in the offensive coaching staff, the recruiting on the defensive side of the ball took center stage in the weeks immediately following UMHB’s Stagg Bowl victory.

BELTON-Ever since former UMHB head football coach Pete Fredenburg retired on Jan. 7 of this year, there had been rumblings as to how his lasting legacy on Crusader football would be visible entering the 2022 season, the program’s first without him as head coach.
BELTON- Blair Neighbors has always seen his play on the field as more than just a final score, or a stat line, or earning individual accolades. The son of a pastor in his hometown of Thrall, the middle linebacker and free safety has been driven by his faith through his success on the gridiron, success that has granted him an opportunity with the UMHB football program this fall.
BELTON- When Caleb Bell announced his transfer from Hardin-Simmons to UMHB four weeks after the Cru’s Stagg Bowl victory, it quickly turned heads.
