Updates from the press box as No. 2 UMHB battles No. 19 Birmingham-Southern

BELTON, Texas- The second round of the D-III football playoffs are here, and on a rainy day in Belton, UMHB will host Birmingham-Southern, for the right to advance to the quarterfinals and face the winner of today’s contest by St. Johns and Linfield (You can track/watch that game here). Kickoff is set for noon at Crusader Stadium. Updates from Crusader Stadium to follow:

Haftime Notes:

BSC standout RB Robert Shufford was held to a mere 19 rush yards on 7 carries. Meanwhile, QB Trey Patterson carried the ball 11 times for 20 rush yards and was 4-of-11 passing for 67 yards in the first half. BSC WR Aidan Hood had 3 catches for 75 yards in the first half. Overall, the Panthers had 105 yards of total offense in the first half. Comparatively, UMHB tallied 187 yards of ottal offense, with QB Ryan Redding leading the Cru. Redding got the start, and was 5-of-12 passing for 58 yards and two scores in the first half, along with a team-best 51 rush yards. WR KJ Miller had two catches, both touchdowns, for 27 yards.
