All-region honors from both the NABC and D3hoops.com rolled in for members of the UMHB men’s and women’s basketball teams on Tuesday.
Headlining the honors was Josiah Johnson and Clif Carroll from the men’s basketball team, as Johnson earned Region 10/District 10 Player of the Year honors from both D3hoops.com and the NABC for the second consecutive season. Carroll was named Region 10 Coach of the Year, having led UMHB to its second straight 20-plus win season and an ASC Regular Season title.
Johnson’s accolades add to his legacy in Belton, as the senior guard has been a D3hoops.com All-Region selection through all three years with the Cru, and the back-to-back All-Region Player of the Year honors from both organizations is a rare feat. He averaged 20.9 points per game this season, and broke the program’s all-time scoring record, with 1,924 total points at UMHB. He needs just 76 points next season to eclipse the 2,000-point mark, and recorded 27 double-digit scoring performances in 2022-23.
Arieona Rosborough joined Johnson as a D3hoops.com First Team All-Region honoree, as the leading scorer from the women’s team followed up her ASC Player of the Year selection with the All-Region honor. Her 396 points ranked second in the league, as she averaged 14.7 points per game. The sophomore scored 10 or more points in 23 contests, shooting 42.8 percent from the field, and added 58 steals on the defensive end. This marks the first First Team All-Region selection of her collegiate career, but Rosborough was the Region 10 Rookie of the Year last season.
Ty Prince finished his career at UMHB with a Second Team All-Region 10 selection by D3hoops.com and a Second Team All-District 10 selection by the NABC, averaging 17.7 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per contest. He also tallied 107 assists, 31 steals, and 26 blocks, and will represent UMHB in the NABC Reese’s D-III All-Star Game on Saturday in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
