Savannah Johnson comes to Belton as part of a stellar incoming recruiting class for the UMHB volleyball program, as she begins her collegiate career after helping Round Rock Christian Academy claim consecutive TAPPS 3A State Titles as a junior and senior.

That RRCA team is sending four of its graduating seniors to UMHB, as Johnson and Emily Millikan will play for the indoor volleyball team, while Kelli Northup and Reagan Sawyer are part of the incoming recruiting class for the beach volleyball program. The Crusaders of RRCA posted a 48-4 record, going undefeated in district play as Johnson ranked second on the team in kills per set (3.5) and tallied 497 kills on the season.

Johnson capped off her stellar high school career with All-State honors, and she was also selected to the TAPPS 3A All-Tournament Team following RRCA’s 3-1 title-clinching victory over Dallas Lutheran on Nov. 10, 2022.

She recently joined True To The Cru’s Riley Zayas for another edition of “Catching up with the Commits”, discussing what she learned from playing in such a competitive high school program, what made UMHB the right collegiate opportunity for her, and her improvement on court over the last several years.
