Navarro College standout RB Asa Osbourn announces commitment to UMHB

The UMHB football program added to its running backs unit on Tuesday, with a commitment from Navarro College transfer Asa Osbourn. A 5-foot-11, 210-pound running back, Osbourn comes to Belton after spending the last two seasons at Navarro. He also spent one year on Oklahoma State’s roster.

Said Osbourn on X/Twitter on Monday afternoon: “After a lot [of] prayers and thinking, I’ve decided to take my talents to Mary Hardin Baylor!!! 110% committed!!”

Osbourn joins The Cru following a strong sophomore season in which he rushed for 223 yards on 40 carries for the Bulldogs. He scored two touchdowns and averaged 5.6 yards per carry. Osbourn, a native of Denison, Texas, also caught nine passes out of the backfield for 44 yards.

That came after a solid showing in his freshman year in 2022, as he tallied 151 yards on 31 rushing attempts, scoring one touchdown. During his career, Navarro went 12-9, and this past season, the Bulldogs battled Kilgore for the SWJFC Championship, falling 48-39. They also earned a spot in the Champs Heart of Texas Bowl, battling Copiah-Lincoln Community College in a 28-20 win for Copiah-Lincoln.

Osbourn opened his career in Stillwater, Oklahoma, joining Oklahoma State as a preferred walk-on for the 2021 season. That opportunity followed a stellar high school career in which he racked up 1,181 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior in 2020. He had five 100+ yard performances for Denison during his final year with the program.
