BELTON — UMHB Volleyball reached the double-digit win mark on Saturday, and did so in dominant fashion, sweeping both Methodist and LeTourneau to go undefeated in the UMHB Tournament.
The Cru, now 10-1 overall with 10 consecutive wins, emerged victorious in straight sets against Alverno, Methodist, and LeTourneau between Friday and Saturday, keeping the momentum rolling from their 4-0 showing at the ETBU Tournament a week ago. Starting with their 3-0 sweep of Dallas in that tournament finale on Sept. 6, head coach Mark Pryor’s squad hasn’t dropped a single set in five matches, and is 12-0 in sets played at home this season.
Junior setter Kendall Harrington was stellar offensively, dishing out 75 assists over the course of the tournament, following up on her 34-assist performance in Thursday’s sweep of Schreiner in the home opener. Harrington averaged an impressive 8.33 assists per set in the UMHB Tournament, crossing the career 1,300-assist mark with her 58 assists in Saturday’s wins. The Midland native now has 1,339 assists in her collegiate career, and seven matches of 30-plus assists already in 2025.
The seventh such performance came on Saturday evening in UMHB’s 3-0 sweep of former ASC contender LeTourneau, who was 6-3 overall heading into the match. Harrington tallied 33 assists—21 more than anyone else on the floor for either team—contributing to UMHB’s 39 kills as The Cru came out firing on all cylinders with a 25-11 win in Set 1. They followed that with set wins of 25-21 and 25-18, taking down LETU at home for the 10th consecutive time since 2011.
Freshman Kaysen Miller continued her strong start on Saturday as well, highlighted by her 11 kills and .375 attack percentage in the 25-14, 25-17, 25-17 defeat of Methodist, a program that went 23-6 in 2024. Miller, a native of Katy, finished the weekend as The Cru’s season leader in kills with 86, and had 26 over UMHB’s three wins in the tournament. In addition to her 11 against Methodist, she tallied seven in the sweep of Alverno on Friday morning, and eight in Saturday’s finale against LETU. Miller is also averaging a team-high 3.19 points per set, a mark that currently ranks in the Top 5 in the ASC this season.
Defensively on Saturday, Natalie Hughes extended her team lead in blocks, which now sits at 28.0. The junior middle assisted on four blocks against LeTourneau, her second game of at least four total blocks in a three-set match this fall. Senior middle Dravyn Hurd also contributed with four total blocks between the wins over Methodist and LeTourneau, tallying one solo block in each match. Hurd now has a team-high five solo blocks in 2025.
The nine-match win streak sets the stage for perhaps UMHB’s most highly-anticipated home duel of 2025, as The Cru hosts No. 10 East Texas Baptist in Belton on Sept. 19. ETBU, the reigning ASC champion, is 11-0 and led by senior All-American Graycee Mosley. The 6 p.m. match will be a “Gold Out” in honor of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month, and will mark The Cru’s last home match before a seven-game road stretch that runs through a rematch at ETBU on Oct. 17.
