Before getting into the winners of our first-ever Player of the Year awards, it is important to note that each of these candidates was deserving of the honor, and that we have a high level of respect for each of them. It takes an entire team to win games as the Crusaders did this past season, and each and every one of them played a role in that success.
After a successful year that saw both programs rise to new heights, it is time to decide True To The Cru’s Players of the Year. The honors will be decided by both the fans and local media, with the fans making up 75 percent of the vote, and the media deciding 25 percent of the vote.
BELTON, Texas- Taylor Kollmorgen came to Belton with the dream of playing in the NCAA Tournament. That, and the chance to play alongside her sister Kaitlyn.
TEMPLE, Texas- In its first, and likely only neutral site game of the regular season, the UMHB women’s basketball team earned its second win over Concordia (TX) in the last three days, defeating the Tornadoes 53-44 on Saturday afternoon at Temple College.
ALPINE, Texas- A change in the starting lineup was not enough to put the UMHB women’s basketball team back in the win column, as the Cru dropped its second straight conference game, falling 55-46 to Sul Ross State Thursday night.
For Taylor and Kaitlyn Kollmorgen, the dream of stepping onto the court together and playing side by side for the same team always seemed far off.
