A letter of appreciation to UMHB football and all who followed our coverage in 2022

Where to start…

Let us begin by saying what phenomenal experience we had covering UMHB football during this 2022 season. From Larry Harmon’s head coaching debut, to the naming of Fredenburg Field, from the press box at Crusader Stadium to the sidelines in Abilene, this was an incredible season filled with memories. We’re just glad we got to be along for the ride, covering a special program in D-III football for yet another season.

To the team, thank you for your consistent support of our coverage, each and every week. Having your backing means a tremendous amount, and it has, and always will be, our goal to cover you all in the best way possible, bringing much-deserved attention to what you are accomplishing. This will forever be a special team in the history of CRU football.

To the senior class in particular, covering the last three seasons of your journeys with UMHB has been a great joy, watching you develop as players and step up as leaders. Time certainly flies by. Each and every one of you gave everything you had to this program, and it showed on the field every Saturday. We wish you all the best of luck moving forwards. You will certainly be missed, and the impact you had will not be forgotten. You served as great role models, represented UMHB extraordinarily well, and added to the championship-caliber foundation of this program in a big way.

To the coaching staff, thank you for what you have done to continue the success of this program. Your leadership is impactful to those watching from afar, and it’s clear that success begins with the guidance and example set by those at the top. Congratulations to Coach Harmon on this historic season in your coaching career. It was an honor to cover your first season as head coach.

To our readers, we appreciate you following along in our coverage of the Cru each week, and for your support and encouragement. Speaking on behalf of our entire team at True To The Cru, that means a great deal.

This isn’t how any of us pictured the season ending. But for this team to prove the doubters wrong, to fight back after a tough defeat at Whitewater, beat Hardin-Simmons by 30 on the road, and reach the semifinal round of the playoffs is a notable feat. UMHB was one of the four teams left standing in the 2022 season, and considering how many programs begin the year with that aspiration, that is a testament to the winning culture found in this program.

Thank you for a great 2022 season. We’re already looking forward to more memories being made in 2023. Go CRU!
