BELTON- The third non-conference matchup of the 2023 season for the UMHB football team was announced Thursday morning, as the Crusaders will face UW-River Falls on Sept. 2 in the season opener.
The game will be played at UW-River Falls, and marks the first meeting between the two programs. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. from Smith Stadium at Ramer Field.
The Falcons are the second WIAC program on UMHB’s 2023 slate, as UW-Whitewater is scheduled to come to Belton during the non-conference portion of the season as well. Additionally, UMHB is set to travel to Trinity (TX) in Week 2 on Sept. 9, facing the Tigers for the third straight season.
UWRF is coming off a 2022 campaign in which the Falcons posted a 7-4 record, going 4-3 in WIAC play. They were a perfect 5-0 at home and won the Culver’s Isthmus Bowl in a 31-24 win over WashU on Nov. 19.
We are very excited to build off the momentum of our last two seasons,” said UWRF head coach Matt Walker in a press release. “The addition of Mary Hardin-Baylor in week one as part of our non-conference schedule is an exciting challenge and opportunity for our entire program. The chance to compete against a top-five nationally ranked opponent in our home opener is an amazing way to start off our season.”
