Catching up with the Commits: CJ Irving

BELTON- Several quarterbacks have committed to UMHB within the 2023 recruiting class and amongst those is CJ Irving, a 6-foot-2-inch, 200 lb standout from Veterans Memorial High School in San Antonio.

A District 13-5A First Team selection, Irving comes to Belton with quite the resume, having led Veterans Memorial to a pair of playoff wins this past fall as a senior. He was also selected to the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game following the year, and committed to UMHB nearly three weeks after the all-star game in Alamodome.

His Jan. 21 commitment was followed by his signing on Feb. 2, and while D-III programs do not have National Letters of Intent, Irving’s signing made his decision to become a Crusader that much more official.

We recently caught up with the pro-style quarterback to discuss what about UMHB made it the school and program for him, as well as his goals for improvement this summer and memories from his high school career. Give it a listen!
