Voting for True To The Cru’s Offensive Player of the Week is now open

There were multiple noteworthy offensive performances in UMHB football’s 52-7 victory over Southwestern on Saturday, and these three players in particular stood out, both on the stat sheet and in their overall hustle, drive, poise and confidence. You can find a portion of the highlights for our three candidates (Tommy Bowden, Kyle King, Brandon Jordan) below as well as a poll where you can cast your vote for True To The Cru’s Offensive Player of the Week. Voting closes at 7:30 pm CT on Monday and please note, no double votes will be counted.

In the first video, quarterback Tommy Bowen, who finished the game with a team-best 112 rushing yards, avoided a sack and scrambled 59 yards downfield, breaking seven tackles along the way. He looked confident as a runner is his first start at Crusader Stadium, though his passing suffered at times. The Brownwood, Texas native also fired two touchdown passes.

In the second video, wide receiver Brandon Jordan used his 6’6 frame to pull down a high pass from quarterback Ryan Redding with just over a minute left in the game. That was one of Jordan’s two touchdown receptions, both of which would come on “jumpball” passes to the corner of the end zone.

Quarterback Kyle King was ready when his number was called, briefly entering the game in the second quarter before coming in for the latter part of the third and the majority of the fourth. The Milano, Texas native scored two rushing touchdowns, and adding a passing touchdown with 13:13 left in the game. Below is one of King’s rushing touchdowns in which he pushed the ball past the goal line, despite Southwestern doing everything it could to stop him.
