UMHB LB Durand Hill named AP All-American

BELTON — For the third time in his UMHB career, Durand Hill is an All-American.

The senior linebacker earned Second Team All-America honors from the Associated Press on Thursday, after a stellar season leading UMHB’s defensive front. Hill tallied a team-best 103 total tackles, 41 of which came in The Cru’s four playoff games. That included a second-round win over Hardin-Simmons in which Hill tallied nine solo tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, and an interception. He also had three pass breakups in UMHB’s 28-18 win over Linfield the following week in the third round.

Hill led UMHB in solo tackles, total tackles, pass breakups, and fumble recoveries in 2024. As a unit, UMHB’s defense led the country in fumble recoveries, with 17.

His four interceptions also ranked second on the team, as Hill closed his four-year career with eight interceptions total. He was also No. 2 in tackles for loss (13.0) and tied for third in sacks (5.5).

The All-America recognition is the latest postseason accolade for Hill, who was also named First-Team All-ASC and First-Team D3football.com All-Region for the third straight season. Hill was one of three ASC representatives on this year’s AP All-America team, with Khalil Spivey (Hardin-Simmons) and Charlie Patterson (Hardin-Simmons) also honored.
